Share Stories

We would like to hear from anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. You may have cancer, be a family member, a friend ,or a caregiver for someone with cancer, or you may want to share how you are reducing your cancer risk. With your story you can help inspire others and raise awareness of the issues for cancer patients and make sure the right people know how to access cancer support services.

Donate

Your donations are used to support cancer patients pre- and post- surgical needs at the Oncology Unit and helps bring additional care services at Palliative Care Unit, T. H. Karapitiya. For example, we pay for ward attendants, supplementary foods, and specialist surgical items and drugs especially for pain management not readily available via the state pharmacy. We organise arts-based therapies that help cope with stresses associated with being ill with cancer. For example, we organise regular drawing and painting lessons as art therapy for cancer patients, support music recitals, and guided meditation and yoga sessions for cancer patients.

The money we collect helps create grassroots cancer awareness, early detection and prevention resources, that include recuperating knowledge of indigenous recipes and healing foods, ocean health, whale and elephant conservation projects as a part of cancer health as these large long-life mammals are resistant to cancer and are studied for this. The threat to their habitat involves plastic pollution that poses a threat to all animals and humans alike.
