Taking Art in many forms-

To the Palliative Care Unit at T. H. Karapitiya, Galle.

This is a value added service, a meditation and a diversion to the physical mind and body from its level of pain and the weakness felt.

It has been my desire to serve and work with people struggling to cope with the process of adapting to stages of cancer. I have practiced art as an alternate healing method and have found very positive results. There are times when it may heal and others may not, but creating a positive mind set in such a person has been my greatest mission. I come from a family where both my parents went for cancer, and I do know what it is.

It was a prayer answered when I was invited to work with members of the Palliative Care Unit and the care givers together with doctors and nursing staff.

It is important to give more skills to the staff so that they can use it on a regular basis. The creative work that started in March 2021 had to stop due to Covid-19 restrictions. I am saddened by the inability to reach out to our dear ones who would take pleasure in the joy and sunshine through colour, texture -even if they have never touched a brush or paint all their lives.
